There are many endpoint management platforms in the market, to name a few:
Microsoft SCCM
ManageEngine - Desktop Central
Ivanti
Altiris
And so on...
So why should you event consider replacing your existing tools?
The short answer is, because BigFix is simply better!
Many existing tool rely on WMI to manage the endpoint or use outdated technologies which rely on the availability of the main management server in order to operate effectively and efficiently.
The use of multiple ports for communication , not all are secured, which makes other platforms more susceptible to security breaches.
Some tools rely on Active Directory domain membership or a VPN connection to the corporate LAN in order to manage each endpoint.
BigFix infrastructure is secured by-design, making use of a single port for communication (That's the only dependency) and because the agent is the 'brains' behind the product, it means that it can operate in a continuous closed-loop, even if the main management server is down.
The main and probably it's strongest point is it's patented Relevance Language which is in fact a query language similar to WMI but much fasted, more accurate and way more flexible.
BigFix comes with a complete, built-in and up-to-date OS and Third-Party patch catalog that contains all the logic one needs to be able to locate vulnerable endpoints, deploy patches automatically with surgical precision and a success rate of over 95% in first attempt.
To better understand what I mean, let's see some examples.
Here's a single patch for Windows 10, the first thing to notice is the description of the patch:
The patch contains a short description of the purpose, known issues and a direct link to the KB article.
Moving forward to the 'Details' tab, you now have complete view of the patch severity, KB number, file size, CVE's if applicable and so on.
Below, we have the built-in relevance statements that each agent check locally and reports back a Boolean value (true or false) for each statement. if all 'true' than the patch is relevant and the computer will be able to deploy it:
The last part is the actual commands to run for the installation process:
Note that all of this date is built-in and maintained by HCL constantly.
With second-to-none precision and performance, support for all major operating systems (Win, Linux, MAC and more) and built-in dashboards and wizards to make your life easier. it's no surprise that BigFix can easily and effectively replace and consolidate your toolset with a top notch product.
